Dr. Clark is a retired Nurse Practitioner and an exercise physiologist who has specialized in the problems and benefits of exercise in fibromyalgia patients.

She has worked with fibromyalgia patients since 1979 and is a co-founder of the Fibromyalgia Information Foundation (formerly the Oregon Fibromyalgia Foundation).

She was an Associate Professor of Nursing at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and has been an investigator in multiple studies funded by private corporations and non-proprietary agencies, including the National Institute of Health; she has published some 61 scientific articles.

Clark developed the Adult Nurse Practitioner program at OHSU School of Nursing and taught nurse practitioner students for thirteen years. She was the rheumatology nurse practitioner in the OHSU rheumatology clinic for 12 years and was an active member of the OHSU fibromyalgia research team beginning in 1980.

Dr. Clark was awarded a National Arthritis Health Professionals’ Traineeship in 1985. In 1991, she co-authored the development and study of the Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQ).

The FIQ is now translated into 11 languages and is considered the “gold standard” for measuring change in fibromyalgia research. Dr. Clark is married to Prof. Robert Bennett.

She is currently Treasurer of the Fibromyalgia Information Foundation.
